The combination of Daylight Savings Time and the new season should put a “spring” in anyone’s step. Over the next few weeks we will see animals and people come out of hibernation. I’m sure the winter weather greatly contributed to the imprint on your couch from binge watching endless hours of television. As a single gal, I often eat my meals in front of the TV. Not a good habit. When you eat while watching the boob tube, you usually consume your food faster instead of savoring each bite. More than likely you will still feel hungry because your stomach had even less time to send the signal to your brain that you just ate, so you may eat more food. Dr. Everett also believes that watching a program while you eat conditions you to become hungry every time you turn on the televison.

Here’s a novel idea: set the table for meals, even if you are eating by yourself. Light a candle, play some relaxing music and enjoy! Put your fork down after each bite and chew at least 15 to 25 times. As your mother used to say, “Slow down, no one is going to take the plate from you”. The episode of “Shark Tank” will be available on demand.
